Project:

Upcycling Up North

Responsibilities:

Upcycling Up North is a built project in Kuujjuuaq, Quebec that developed out of the CCA Charrette and the critical success of the Shared Snowmobile Garages competition entry. The project goes beyond design/build by allowing community input from over 60 residents of the Northern Village of Kujjuuaq to drive design decisions. Over five days, our interdisciplinary team conceived and built an outdoor community pavilion that activates a central recreational area in the village. The conception of this important and engaging structure was a unique and creative opportunity to utilize a DIY up-cycling design approach that reduces landfill waste and energy consumption, while valorizing the rich design/build culture of the region.
